Reflecting on GCM’s Community Initiatives in 2025

In the captive insurance industry, much of our work centers on managing risk and building long-term financial resilience. At Global Captive Management Ltd. (GCM), we believe resilience extends beyond business operations. It also includes the strength and well-being of the communities where we live and work.

Community engagement is a core part of GCM’s culture. As a Cayman Islands–based firm and part of the Holmes Murphy family of companies, we are proud to continue a longstanding tradition of service by encouraging our team members to contribute their time, talents, and resources to causes that matter. Throughout 2025, our employees demonstrated this commitment through a wide range of volunteer initiatives, community partnerships, and charitable activities. The result was a year marked by meaningful engagement across the Cayman Islands, with our team contributing more than 1,595 volunteer hours to community initiatives. While the number itself is significant, the real impact lies in the relationships formed and the collective effort of employees who consistently choose to show up for their community.

Connecting with Local Charities

One of the ways GCM builds lasting community relationships is through Quarterly Community Presentations. These sessions invite local charities and nonprofit organisations to visit our office and share the work they are doing across the Cayman Islands. These presentations help our employees understand the challenges facing various organisations and identify meaningful ways to support their efforts.

In 2025, we welcomed representatives from groups such as Meals on Wheels, the CAYS Foundation, and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. The conversations that emerge from these sessions often lead to further involvement, whether through volunteer support, donations, or participation in events that help advance the organisation’s mission.

A Day Dedicated to Community Impact

One of the highlights of the year was GCM’s annual Community Day, a program designed to bring employees together for a day of service while strengthening our connection to the Cayman community. In 2025, Community Day took on an Amazing Race theme, with teams traveling across Grand Cayman to complete challenges that combined team-building with charitable service.

Along the way, employees supported several organisations including the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre, Beacon Farms, Blue Iguana Conservation, and Meals on Wheels. Activities included beach clean-ups and learning about the work these organisations do to improve the lives of Cayman residents. The event also incorporated stops at cultural landmarks such as the National Museum, Heroes Square, and the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, providing employees with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the island’s history and heritage.

Supporting Community Initiatives

Throughout the year, GCM employees also participated in several community events organized by other organisations. In many cases, our role was to sponsor a team or participate alongside others in the financial services community, contributing both awareness and support for the charities behind the events. Team members took part in activities such as the RBC Race for the Kids, One2One Golf Tournament and various IMAC Fundraising initiatives, all geared towards raising funds for their scholarship fund. While GCM is not the organizer of these events, participating allows our team to support the charities involved while strengthening connections within the Cayman community.

Promoting Awareness and Inclusion

In addition to volunteer events, our employees supported several awareness initiatives throughout the year. Participation in the “Lots of Socks” campaign for World Down Syndrome Day helped highlight the importance of inclusion and celebrate the contributions of individuals with Down syndrome. Our team also supported Jasmine Flag Day, volunteering to help collect donations and raise awareness for the important work Jasmine does across the Cayman Islands. Jasmine is the island’s dedicated provider of palliative and hospice care, offering compassionate medical, emotional, and practical support to individuals living with serious or life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families.

Empowering Employee Giving

A key component of GCM’s community impact strategy is participation in Holmes Murphy’s Community Footprints Program, an initiative designed to empower employees to help determine where the company directs a portion of its charitable giving. Each year, employees nominate nonprofit organizations that are making a meaningful difference in their local communities. Team members then vote for the organisation they believe should receive the funding. The program allocates $100USD per employee, creating a collective pool of funds that is awarded to the nonprofit receiving the most votes. For GCM, this employee-driven approach ensures that our charitable contributions reflect the causes that resonate most with our team. Rather than decisions being made solely at the leadership level, employees play a direct role in identifying organizations that are creating positive change across the Cayman Islands.

Supporting Communities Beyond Our Shores

One of the most meaningful initiatives toward the end of the year was the One Love Relief Drive, organized to support families in Jamaica following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. The hurricane left many communities without basic necessities during what would normally be a joyful holiday season.

In response, GCM employees came together to provide meaningful support by purchasing and donating essential items including hygiene products, clothing, children’s toys, books, and other household necessities. These items were distributed directly to families affected by the hurricane, helping bring both practical assistance and a sense of comfort during a difficult time. While much of our community engagement focuses on the Cayman Islands, initiatives like the One Love Relief Drive remind us that compassion and support can extend beyond borders when communities face hardship.

Looking Ahead

Looking back on 2025, the impact of our collective efforts is clear. Across volunteer events, community initiatives, and charitable partnerships, GCM employees contributed more than 1,595 hours of service throughout the year. Those hours supported organizations working in areas such as social services, education, environmental conservation, and community welfare.

Behind each of those hours is a team member who chose to contribute their time and energy to making a difference. Community impact grows through consistent engagement, meaningful partnerships, and a shared belief that businesses have a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities they serve.

At Global Captive Management Ltd., we are proud of the role our team plays in supporting the Cayman Islands community. As we look ahead, we remain committed to continuing these efforts, building strong relationships with local organisations and creating opportunities for our employees to give back in ways that are both impactful and rewarding.
